Ping G5 Irons
Among the great innovations seen in the sport of golf are Ping G5 Irons. Cast irons are designed to fit the golfer. Fifty years ago, engineer Karsten Solheim, invented Ping 1A in his garage. At the age of 42, Solheim took up the game when he was asked to join a foursome with his colleagues at General Electric. His main problem was putting, so he designed a revolutionary putter and the rest is history!
The golf clubs got its name Ping from the sound the ball made as it struck metal. With his clever golf club design, in place of attaching the shaft at the heel of the blade, the creative inventor attached it in the center. Applying scientific principles, he transferred much of the club head weight to the perimeter. Sports Illustrated named the Ping 1A the “musical putter” for the sweet sound it made.
Today, the craftsman legacy lives on. Ping G5 Irons are built for forgiveness. Enhanced perimeter weight causes the G5 Iron to be extremely forgiving. With the moment of inertia increased, distance loss is decreased, and off center shots become straighter. From shafts, lie, loft, length, and grips, you can even get a special sole grind on your iron set! Ping makes a great iron on which the heads are manufactured to last seemingly forever and are easily refinished!
